Last Friday I attended the first concert at Radio X’s Hillside Amphitheater. This will the same venue as the Tribute Concert on June 2nd.
This was the first show ever for the band, The Halflings and they were followed by NME, The Designated Drivers and Kenny Thomas and the Southern Baptists.
These two bands played the last show Jen and I ever got to see together. We immediately became friends. She chatted up Kenny the whole time as they realized that they loved the same music. When the Designated Drivers came on she screamed “Pete!” and requested “windmills.” It was the beginning of something special.

After a long and adventurous day filled with swords, spiders and photographic fairies, I headed to San Francisco with friend and fellow filmmaker, Garland Yee. It was the premiere screening of “Down Under” a 3d horror short that he produced.
Unfortunately, the venue did support 3d projection, so the film was presented in a squarish aspect ratio. While this didn’t detract much from the film, it would have been nice to see the film as intended with blood and body parts flying around in 3d.
A woman is bound and tied, her mouth taped shut. Can she escape before her torturer finishes the job? This is where the film opens and then we are very effectively taken down a short roller coaster of horror.
The film definitely produced a lot of jumps, screams and other reactions in the audience. At one point, it sounded like a woman behind me was orgasming with fear.
You can see “Down Under” tonight at the Kabuki Theatre at 8:30 along with the other XXX shorts. (Note: the “XXX” stands for the 30th year of the festival, not porn.)
I have been very busy with work which is good, but I really haven’t had time to update my newly retooled blog. More videos are coming.
In the meantime, check out what has been keeping me busy. For the past few months, I have been working on the live broadcast and production of San Jose City Hall meetings and Santa Clara County Meetings.
This following video is “The Planning Commission” where they talk about liquor liscences, development planning and a marijuana ordinance.
I noticed there were cobwebs growing at the edges of my blog. It’s been while since I have written.
I started this blog to document the work that I do for a living and as a passion. Lately, the posts have been few and far between.
Recently, I got a job where I am working on lots of different content. From Fashion Shows to Holiday Events, Government Meetings to Documentaries, there is a lot of content that I am getting to work on.
So without too much praise, prose or promise, I am starting the blog up again. Let’s see what happens.
My friend, “The Machine” and I have been talking about making an Apps show for awhile. Well this week we did. It was a quick and dirty job. We shot one night, and edited the next. The next day it was online.
This time the subject was free Halloween Apps. The video is a tutorial on how to use these 5 apps to get your iPhone or iPod ready for Halloween.
Wow, that was one busy month. I have been very busy at work making lots of videos. In addition to my paid videos, I also entered a video contest.
Artshots is a collaboration between the 48 Hour Film Project and Artsopolis. The idea was to bring a filmmaker in and make a video about an artist. My artist is Lori Krein. However, halfway through the contest I got handed a project from someone who dropped out. So I worked on a second video for Wednesday Night Hop.
Friday was the last day to get the videos in on time. It was a manic race to the finish line. I had dvd problems, missed the post office hours, and didn’t get to do my final cut on the videos. However, with a little help from my friends I managed to get the videos and all the paperwork postmarked and sent in on time.
The videos will be online soon and so will online voting. I’ll keep you posted.
The 48 Hour Film Project has joined forces with Artsopolis.com and created a video competition. Filmmakers coming together with artists and creating 30-90 seconds of magic. I am pitted against some tough competition from producers, TV show hosts and award winning filmmakers.
Entering the third week of the Artshot video contest, I am feeling confident. While I haven’t shot anything yet, I think this is going to be good. Stay tuned for more details.
This next video is a project I got to help on. Maybe you saw it on tonight’s news. Professor Lee Berger used Google Earth to find “the most significant palaeoanthropological discoveries in recent times, revealing at least two partial hominid skeletons in remarkable condition, dating to between 1.78 and 1.95 million years.”
Exciting stuff! Check out the Official Google blog post about it:
